Scar Symmetry Vocalist Auditions (aka excuse to get drunk)
As many of you know now, my top album of 2008 was Scar Symmetry’s Holographic Universe which I thought was absolutely stunning on so many levels. Recently however, the metal world has been hit with some sad news with the vocalist of Scary Symmetry, Christian Ãlvestam parting ways with his cohorts. Soon after, it has been announced that auditions were held, and two new vocalists would take on the role Christian handled on his own. Apparently the band wishes to expand the complexities of the vocals, and they needed two people to pull double duty. Anyway, I came across this little gem of a video which is a rough sampler of what we can expect from the new vocalists. The guys in the video are Lars Palmqvist whom I don’t really know much about, but his style is much more power metallish than Christian’s, but the good news is he hits all the same notes and sounds very similar as far as vocal patterns go. Robert “Robban” Karlsson will handle harsh vocals, and this guy is quite accomplished with bands like Devian, Edge of Sanity and Pan.Thy.Monium. Overall, I trust the judgement of the band in picking these guys, and have high hopes for future releases!
And just because, here is a lil music video action featuring the song “Morphogenesis”:
