Cody’s Top 10 – Heavy Metal Record Labels
Alright, this may be a touchy subject for any musicians who may be reading this who have been in bands that worked with one or more of these labels. Everyone who has been in the scene long enough knows that bands and labels often times don’t see eye to eye, but for us fans, the result of those business relationships are what gives us the metal we crave. With that said, the following list is purely from a fan’s perspective, these are the labels I will have put out the best material over the years. Now, considering bands often skip around from label to label, especially in the underground, I am using all examples of artists who have released at least 3 albums any respective label which will be quoted beside each band.

Spot-on! Nuclear Blast is an easy #1, as the label has put out the majority of my favorites.
I’m confused as to why these bands made your list. I understand the three album minimum, but is this all of the bands from the label that have released at least 3 largely received albums, 3 LPs, regardless of sales…or are they simply the bands you thought made the biggest impact on the success of the label? I know its not the most relevant of questions, but I’m curious.
Matt – The onlyu significance is the 3 album minimum, those are merely the groups I was able to compile, they’re not meant to be “stand outs” necessarily, but I do believe it shows a visual representation of why I chose the list the way I did.
It would appear the 3 album minimum was a good number, just seeing how the compilation ended up. I would say that at least 80% of those making the cut are pretty commonly referenced as influential bands.
GOOD CHOICE, I AGREE WITH THE BANDS POSTED.
So who will sign Be’lakor?
