Review: Need – Siamese God (2009)

Greece’s Need have released their second full length, Siamese God, and it certainly shows promise. Containing a band full of members that clearly know what their doing, Need are looking to make a statement, however, is talent alone enough to make a statement true?
On one hand Need represents a fast paced, well orchestrated progressive metal band, but on the other, they are weighed down by nu-metal intentions, and I don’t get it at all. Why break what could have been an extremely talented band with rays of sunshine throughout the entirety of Siamese God by reducing it to a genre that is deservedly in its throes of death? I know it all weighs down to matter of taste, and I can’t deny that Need goes above and beyond the level of talent required to succeed in the realm of nu metal, which is why Siamese God is such a disappointment; there is so much promise on this record, but it is all bogged down by simplistic down tuned crap that completely masks the talent contained therein.
